    Starbucks Layoffs: Eliminate 1100 Corporate Jobs, Open Roles

    In January, Starbucks Chairman and Chief Government Officer Brian Niccol told employees that company layoffs had been on the horizon.

    Now, the horizon is right here. Niccol informed workers in a new memo Monday that 1,100 company jobs can be eradicated the subsequent day, noting that his crew has been “evaluating the function, construction, and measurement of our world help groups to assist us ship on our ‘Again to Starbucks’ plan and place the corporate for future success.”

    Staff who’re being laid off will probably be informed by noon Tuesday, Feb. 25, the memo says.

    The cuts won’t have an effect on staff who work at Starbucks cafes or within the roasting, manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution divisions.

    As of final 12 months, Starbucks had round 16,000 staff working outdoors of retailer places, per CNBC.

    Since joining the espresso chain in September, Niccol has created quite a few modifications, together with revamping the code of conduct, including ceramic mugs, and capping cellular orders, all in an effort to return Starbucks to its coffeehouse roots and enhance lagging gross sales.

    Starbucks has reported a decline in same-store sales (the full gross sales in shops which were working for a 12 months or extra) for 4 consecutive quarters.

    “We consider it is a mandatory change to place Starbucks for future success — and to make sure we ship for our inexperienced apron companions and the purchasers they serve,” Niccol wrote.
