    China to slap retaliatory tariffs on some Canadian products

    China on Saturday announced retaliatory tariffs on some Canadian agricultural items, hitting again after Ottawa slapped import duties on Chinese language-made electrical autos and metal and aluminum merchandise.

    Beijing mentioned a 100% tariff can be imposed on Canadian rapeseed oil, oil truffles and peas, whereas a 25% levy can be positioned on aquatic merchandise and pork originating in Canada.

    The tariffs are scheduled to come back into drive from March 20, in accordance with a press release from China’s Customs Tariff Fee of the State Council.

    The measures come amid a brewing global trade war, following a number of tariff bulletins by the U.S., China, Canada and Mexico in latest months.

    Canada imposed 100% import tariffs on Chinese language-made EVs from Oct. 1 final 12 months, following within the footsteps of the U.S. and the European Union over considerations associated to unfair competitors.
